train. it took them about a half an hour to get him out. they don't know what happened. they don't know if it was an accident or intentional. that is under investigation. he was alive when they took him away. >> as we transported the individual, he was in critical condition with serious traumatic injuries. the patient was conscious as we were transporting him. it's very amazing. >> reporter: here is a look at the equipment they used to get him out from underneath the train. the fire department has new cordless extrication tools. they used to have to haul in cords and a generator for their jaws of life. they say this is much quicker and that possibly played a role in saving this man's life. they don't have any details about him. they don't know his anyone at this time. i did just check in with san francisco general and he is in critical condition. they are single tracking through here. trains are moving, it's going to be a bit slower this morning and you cannot get off at this

station as you see. it is closed. i did ask a b.a.r.t. speaks person if the shutdown will last all day, can people count on this for the afternoon commute what, about the lunch-hour? he said it will possibly be reopening within the hour. the police and the team doing the investigation, it's up to them. keep checking for updates. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. now to pittsburgh where the suspected gunman behind the deadly synagogue shooting is in a courtroom this morning. authorities say robert gregory bowers opened fire, killing 11 people. prosecutors call it a hate crime and want the death penalty. reporter maggie rulli is live in pittsburgh with more. maggie? >> reporter: kristen, people here are starting their week living in an entirely new kind of reality. they stress that it's not only their community, it's every single american who has had their lives rocked. a community and a nation reliving saturday's horrific

attack at the tree of life synagogue. 11 victims murdered, targeted simply because of that i religion. >> i saw a body on the steps. >> i'm hearing people screaming. and it's seared in my brain. >> among themce and sylvan simon. their candlelight ceremony was inside this synagogue in 1956. lifetime members, brothers david and cecil rosenthal, both with special needs. >> you don't get a more innocent, harmless individual who doesn't have an ill bone in his body. >> the fbi says the alleged shooter, 46-year-old robert bowers, hurled words of hate against jews as he murdered them. police arriving on the scene shot him multiple times. this exclusive photo reportedly shows doctors working to save his life. >> he was taken into my hospital and shouting i want to kill all the jews. the first three people are taking care of him are jewish. >> he was a mystery to his

neighbors but never flagged by authorities. despite his hateful posts online. like this one, calling jews the children of satan. on the social media site gab, popular among activists and white nationalists who believe mainstream sites like facebook and twitter censor their radical views. bowers is now in federal custody facing charges that carry the death penalty. authorities say they're now looking through the suspect's cell phone and computer trying to learn more about this man and find out if there was a triggering event, something specific that made him walk into this synagogue and open fire on saturday morning. maggie rulli, abc 7 news. kristen in. >> maggie, thank you. people in the bay area have been gathering to show support for the pittsburgh victims. congregation held an interfaith service yesterday. leaders from a variety of faiths as well as mayor london breed. the crowd heard from a survivor in los angeles in 1999.

appearance right now. this morning, we're learning authorities have found yet another package. intercepted at post office. you see the bomb disposal robot right there. abc news reporter, kenneth moton live in miami with details on that new package and say job's court appearance. kenneth? >> reporter: kristen, right now, cesar sayoc is hearing that long list of federal charges against him. for days, investigators have been concerned about him being able to send more devices before he was captured on friday. this morning, another suspicious package intercepted. the same day the man was charged with sending explosive devices across the country makes his first appearance in federal court. the package was sent to its atlanta offices of cnn. cesar sayoc was captured on surveillance cameras during his alleged campaign of terror. these images obtained by abc news, sayoc at a gentlemen's

club in west palm beach, florida. greeting customers, flipping through papers friday morning. hours later, he was arrested at an auto zone in plantation, florida. >> it seemed like he would be caught soon. >> the manhunt started when the first pipe bomb was found in the mailbox of george sor owes. 13 other packages sent to high-profile democrats, including former president obama, secretary hillary clinton and democratic fundraiser, tom steyer who was on cnn. >> i'm talking about disrespecting the norms of democracy and that creates an atmosphere where anything can bubble up and anything is bubbling up. >> sayoc filled his social media pages with anti-democrat messages and posted what appears to be videos of himself at trump rallies. lon law enforcement sources say investigators say his white van covered with political stickers

at 61 degrees. here's the setup for today. we've got a dry cold front rolling through. that is going to be the storm track for today and tomorrow. briefly cooler. its eraturesac toth year here's a look at the warm front that's going to come in starting wednesday. halloween, it's going to be dry and make it delightful to be out there in the evening hours and we'll keep building on the warmth through friday and pull the temperatures back this weekend. i'll show you that coming up. first let me tell you what's going to happen this afternoon. high clouds will be decreasing from north to south. so it will be getting brighter as we head towards sunset at about 6:14. temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. not only half moon bay and also in santa cruz, but pretty much upper 60s to low 70s. san francisco and around the bay, low to mid-70s in the inland neighborhoods. here's a look at the high clouds in south beach looking at the western span of the bay bridge. be in the low to mid-60s. hang out there at noon. the temperatures are pretty

close to average, which is low 60s at the coast. 69 to 73 for the rest of us. near 60 at 8:00. in the breeze, then they kick up at midnight. these are the temperatures. let my give you two different forecasts. these are the temperatures below a thousand feet. be in the mid-40s to 50s with clear conditions. however, above a thousand feet, we're going to be in the mid-50s to the mid-60s. that is going to be warm and dry and look at the winds developing. we've got a high fire danger. we've got a fire weather watch this morning. the weather service went ahead at about an hour ago and upgraded it to a red flag warning. we believe these conditions will develop. the conditions being northerly winds up to 30 miles per hour sustained with gusts to 55. even if a fire doesn't start, if you have anything outside to blow away, bring it in or try to nail it down. humidity, around 10 to 20%. fires could start easily and spread rapidly. now, the times are interesting. up in the north bay, we start at 11:00 this evening. go through 6:00 wednesday morning. for solano county, start at 8:00

tomorrow to morning when your fire danger is highest through wednesday at 11:00 in the morning. then for the east bay hills and the diablo range, we've got that red flag warning starting at 2:00 tomorrow morning through 6:00 wednesday morning. all right. those temperatures still in the 60s and 70s tomorrow. the 80s return inland by wednesday and we'll hang on to mid-80s there. mid-70s around the bay. even some 70s at the coast thursday and friday. we'll pull the temperatures back saturday and sunday. don't forget, saturday night, daylight savings end. we get that extra hour of sleep. if you have the carbon dioxide detectors with the nine volt batteries, change them. >> great reminder. thanks, mike. yeah! >> oh, yeah. doing a lot of damage, right? that is not -- boston red sox
